The latest standard (protocol) is the Wireless N router. Products made to the Wireless N (802.11n) standard can offer faster speeds and greater coverage areas. However the Wireless N standard has not been ratified by the IEEE (the body responsible with ratifing standards that are agreed by the Wi-Fi Alliance). It is expected to be ratified in 2009. Therefore, currently the Wireless G router is the latest in the series that has been ratified.
